La Gavitella is a small beach located in Praiano, between Positano and Amalfi. It can be reached on foot via its historic 400-step staircase or by boat from anywhere along the Amalfi Coast and the Sorrentine Peninsula.
The name “Gavitella” likely comes from old dialect words tied to the sea, perhaps referring to the ropes (“gàve”) used by Praiano’s fishermen to moor their boats. Since the days of the Amalfi Maritime Republic, this small cove has served as a spot where locals fished, traded, and hauled their boats ashore.
Today, La Gavitella is one of the few beaches on the Amalfi Coast that enjoys sunlight until sunset, is a haven of tranquility and beauty, where the sea still retains the authentic, maritime spirit of its past.
In the heart of Praiano, La Gavitella was founded in 2004 as a family-run Restaurant and Beach Club, with the aim of offering a high-quality gastronomic experience based on fresh fish and local products, immersed in the splendor of the sea.
Our restaurant offers a unique and relaxing Mediterranean atmosphere, with breathtaking views of Positano, Li Galli Island, and the Faraglioni of Capri.
